The wait for inter-city bus terminal at Madhavaram is almost over with Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority announcing that the bus terminal is all set to open in two months.
More than 90% of the work at the terminal is completed and deputy CM, O.Paneerselvam and other ministers inspected the site to monitor the quality of construction. This terminal is expected to serve as boarding point for buses to cities such as Hyderabad, Tirupati and Nellore.
Spanning over 8 acres, the new terminal can accommodate 42 buses in ground floor and 50 in first floor. The facility will have parking space for 1,700 motorcycles and 72 cars and is expected to decongest the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu.
There are six staircases, three lifts, two ATMs and two ticket counters. Information centre and toilets have also been built in to the terminal. There is provision for eight shops, a restaurant, and an infant feeding room. There is a family waiting hall, crew rest room, health clinic, pharmacy and a dormitory.
