Chennai To Light-Up Lakeside For A Safe and Healthy Lifestyle

It’s been only a year since three of the major water bodies have been restored to their fresh glory in South Chennai. While the lakes are all set to give some positive and fresh vibes, you can now walk along these lakes to breathe some fresh air. The GCC is working on setting up lamp posts and high-mast lights. You will see them across the Madipakkam, Arthanareeswarar temple pond, and Puzhuthivakkam lakes. The cost for this is estimated to be around 50 lakhs.

This step was taken after owing to the long-pending demand for the same from the residents of those areas. These demands came up after seeing the area being misused for a very long time by using these places for alcohol consumption post evenings. The residents got accustomed to seeing alcohol bottles and other trash in the mornings along the walkway or inside the lake.

After this news, residents now feel that they can safely walk along the lakeside and enjoy the scenic beauty. One stretch of the lake at Madipakkam’s Iyyappa Nagar is well lit now and residents are now using it for night walks and children’s play.
