Central Government Announces New Drone Policy

More unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are expected to be up in the sky with centre announcing a policy regulating the commercial and civilian operations of drones. The new policy that will be effective from December 1st will require registration of drones, its operators and the operation.

This policy has been welcomed by drone users, specially wedding photographers and videographers, as it will encourage use of UAVs legally.

Permits won’t be needed for drones that will be used below an altitude of 50 feet or indoors. Police should be informed if operated below 200 ft. in uncontrolled airspace .

Restricted areas include airports, densely populated areas, within 50 km of the nation’s borders and along the coastline beyond 500 m out over the sea.
