A farmer’s son is TamilNadu topper in Civil Service Exams

A big shout out to Pratap Murgan, who emerged as state topper in the coveted Civil Services exam with an All India Rank of 21. The 23 year old cracked the exam in his very first attempt.

A native of Virudhunagar, Pratap is bothered by many social issues and this motivated him to pursue civil services and become an IAS officer to do good for the society. Growing up as a farmer’s son, Pratap was clear about not getting into the field of agriculture himself. “I wanted to contribute to the sector as a whole by becoming an administrator “, Times of India reported Pratap as saying. 

This chemical engineering graduate from Anna University has also tried his hand as a lyricist under Madhan Karky.

The civil service exams, conducted in August 2016, had over 4 Lakhs candidates appearing. Out of 15,452 candidates that qualified for the main exam, 2,961 were selected for personal interview.
