Street Vendors in Chennai will soon get ID Cards

Around 26,000 street vendors in Chennai will soon be receiving ID cards. A town vending committee has been set up and it’s likely to play a key role in making decisions on the identification of street vending zones in all the 15 zones of the Corporation.

Chennai police will also be helping out the corporation in identifying the possible vending zones. Every zone will have representation in the town vending commitee.The street vendors who will receive the ID card has been identified and their biometric survey has completed.

  1. Include our Marina Beach vendors too. It ‘s disgusting, annoying to see them dump their waste right into the 2nd largest beach (as if it’s their father’s property). They earn their living right there. Let them have that much of courtesy.
