Nelson Manickam Road to get a Foot-over Bridge

A footover bridge is likely to come up along the Nungambakkam railway station to help pedestrians exiting the station. Once the bridge is constructed, pedestrians will no longer have to wait for signals or walk across the busy Nelson Manickam road.

Chennai corporation has floated a tender to identify a contractor to carry out the design & feasibility check of this proposal. Times of India reported that the corporation has come up with this proposal to address the problems due to traffic block created each time passengers alighting from the trains cross over to catch buses or share autos.

During the peak hours in the morning, from 8.30 am to 9.15 am, 30 trains stop at the station and approximately 400 passengers alight the train.
