Govt. Royapettah Hospital gets a new Paediatric block

The health minister Mr.C.Vijayabaskar inaugurated the new paediatric block at Govt. Royapettah Hospital yesterday. The new block, sprawling two stories and 10,340 square feet, was proposed three years ago and is now built at a cost of Rs.2 crore.

“The paediatric block now offers critical care facility along with 54 bed general ward. It  also has a six-bed intensive care unit, six-bed infant care ward, a breastfeeding room for new mothers and also an isolation ward to prevent spread of infectious diseases like chicken pox and various types of fever,”  Dr Anand Pratap, regional medical officer, Government Royapettah Hospital, told the New Indian Express.

Equipped with a radiology department, a 24*7 clinical laboratory and screening equipments, the new block will be able to provide critical care to children within the premises and reduce infant mortality rate.
